Should You Buy an iPad Pro or an iPad Pro 2?

If you’re in the market for a new tablet, you’re probably doing some research and taking a look at some of the best options. Two of the models you might be looking into are the iPad Pro and the iPad Pro 2. Considering that they come from the same product line, they’re expected to have similar features, which can make it difficult for shoppers to distinguish between the two and decide which model best works for them.

If you find yourself in this dilemma, this guide is for you. Read on to know more about the iPad Pro and iPad Pro 2 and decide which tablet is the right choice for you.

Size

The iPad Pro and iPad Pro 2 have pronounced differences in size, so you can easily pick one that best suits your needs. The iPad Pro, for example, comes in a 9.7-inch variant, making it ideal if you need a portable tablet that you can easily bring anywhere. It also has a bigger 12.9-inch model, which is great if you plan to use your tablet to work in the office- or business-related tasks and needs to have a large screen.

Apple has not confirmed how big or small the iPad Pro 2 will be. However, there are rumors that it will have a 10.5-inch screen, making it slightly bigger than the 9.7-inch iPad Pro and almost the same screen size as the standard netbook. There are even rumors that Apple will put the iPad Pro 2’s 10.5-inch screen on a 9.7-inch body by reducing the bezel size. If this turns out to be true, you’ll find that the iPad Pro 2 is a better option since you’ll get a bigger screen on a relatively small tablet.

Features

The iPad Pro is designed to cater to power users as well as those who want to enjoy quality entertainment on the go. The two variants both come with the 64-bit A9X chip and the M9 processor, which give the tablets enough power to function as a mobile workstation and run intensive apps for computer-aided design, image processing, video editing, and other tasks. The 9.7-inch variant has a 2048×1536 screen resolution while the 12.9-inch model has a 2732×2048 screen resolution, and they both come with excellent graphics performance to make movie watching and video game playing a pleasant experience.

Unfortunately, details on the iPad Pro 2’s specs are still murky since Apple has not released any information about it. Tech experts believe that it will be powered by the A10X processor and that it will run on the latest version of iOS (called iOS 11). It’s also expected to have three or four microphones, four speakers, and a 12 MP camera.

Price

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro starts at $599 while the 12.9-inch variant starts at $799, and they can reach $929 and $1,129 respectively depending on the configuration. The iPad Pro 2’s retail price, on the other hand, is expected to start at $799 and go all the way up to $1,229 for the 256 GB, Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

If you’re after a powerful tablet that can get the job done, and if you want it right now, the iPad Pro is the best option for you. But, if you’re willing to wait a bit longer and spend a bit more to access the latest technology, the iPad Pro 2 is the ideal choice.
