Common LG G4 problems and their solutions

LG G4 Wi-Fi issues

If your Wi-Fi connection is slow or if you can’t connect to a network at all, here are some simple solutions to fix this.

Method 1:

Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on.

Method 2:

Restart your smartphone.

Method 3:

Restart your router.

Method 4:

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, find your Wi-Fi network, tap and hold it and then tap Forget. Find the network, add the password (if required) and try to connect again.

Method 5:

Update router’s firmware.

Method 6:

“You can download and install Wifi Analyzer app, This app comes as handy because it shows the Wi-Fi channels around you. Use the app to find the channel which is not as crowded for your wireless router.”

Method 7:

Update the software on your device. Go to Settings > About phone > Software Updates.

Perform factory data reset, but backup your data first. Navigate to Settings > Backup and Reset. Make sure that Back Up My Data and Automatic Restore boxes are checked. Click on Factory Data Reset (if you want you can erase your SD card, in which case you should check that box, if not uncheck it), then tap on Reset Phone > Next > Delete All > OK.

LG G4 Bluetooth issues

Here are several fixes for Bluetooth issues.

Method 1:

Turn the Bluetooth off and turn it back on.

Method 2:

Make sure that power saving mode is turned off. Go to Settings > Battery > Power Saving Mode.

Method 3:

“One of the reasons why Bluetooth issues may occur is the fact the user reached Bluetooth profile limit. In this case, just delete old and unused profiles.”

Clear Bluetooth cache.

Go to Settings > Bluetooth, find the device you are having issues with and Unpair. Then, find the device and try to pair again.

LG G4 random reboots

If your device restarts when you are using a specific app, go to Settings > Apps, find that app and tap on Clear Cache and Clear Data. You can also delete the app and install it again.

LG G4 notification LED issue

Quite a few LG G4 users reported a problem with LED that keeps flashing and when the users turn on the screen, there are no notifications. Here are the fixes.

“Clear all Notifications
Turn off Screen
(wait for notification light to blink)
Turn on Screen
Go to Clock, disable Alarm
Double tap Status bar / Turn off Screen
(wait for notification light to NOT blink)
Turn on screen and enable your Alarm.

The LED light should no longer blink for no reason.”

Method 3:

Go to Settings > Sound & Notification, turn off Notification LED and then turn it back on.

Method 4:

Turn off your phone, remove the battery, wait for a minute and put it back in.

Method 5:

Boot your device into safe mode to see if one of the third-party apps is causing the problem. Turn off your device and reboot it. When the LG logo shows up, press and hold the Volume Down key and once you see the Home screen release the key.

Method 6:

Backup your files and do a factory data reset.

LG G4 slow charging issue

Some users said that sometimes the device needs 3-4 hours to fully charge. If you have the same problem, here are the solutions.

Method 1:

Don’t use your device while it’s charging.

Method 2:

Check the cable and the charger to make sure they are not faulty.

Method 3:

If you charged your smartphone using the wall charger, connect it to your computer using the USB cable and vice versa.

Method 4:

It’s always a good idea to use the charger that came with your device, but if the phone needs too much time to charge, try another charger because maybe the one you have is faulty.

Method 5:

“If you have been using your device for a while, for instance, you played a game for an hour, you will notice that your device is getting hot. Let it cool off completely, and then connect it to the charger.”

Turn off your smartphone, remove the battery and the SD card and then put them back in.

Here are some simple tips and tricks to make the battery last longer.

Here is how you can fix the LG G4 overheating issue.

Remove the case if you have one.

LG G4 performance issues

If your device is running slow, or if it’s lagging when switching between apps, here are the fixes.

Method 1:

Gp to Settings > General and turn off Dual window.

Method 2:

Delete the apps you are not using. Go to Settings > Apps, find the app you want to remove, tap on it and click Uninstall.

Method 3:

Download and install Greenify. It’s a very useful app that will put all the misbehaving apps you have installed into hibernation and prevent them from draining the battery and slowing down your device.

Method 4:

Boot your device into Safe mode where all third-party apps are disabled. If it works normally, it means that one of the third-party apps is causing the problem. You can uninstall these apps one by one or perform factory data reset.

Method 5:

Go to Settings > About phone > System updates. If a new version of the software is available, download and install it.

Method 6:

Use different launcher, such as Nova Launcher.

Method 7: 

Backup your data and perform factory data reset.

LG G4 keyboard lag

This is a very common issue, but there are some very simple fixes. Try them out and the issue will be gone in no time.

Method 1:

A simple restart can fix this problem.

Method 2:

Clear keyboard app cache. Go to Settings > Application Manager, tap on All tab find your Keyboard app and then tap Clear Cache.

Method 3:

If the problem occurs only when you are using a specific app, clear cache and data for that app. Also, make sure the app is up to date.

Wipe cache partition. Go to Settings > Storage, tap on Cached data and click OK.

Method 5:

There are tons of awesome third-party keyboards in the Google Play Store, so you should try one of those.

LG G4 apps freezing

When apps are crashing or freezing there are a few simple things you can do to fix the problem easily.

Method 1:

The first thing you should do is to clear app’s cache and data. To do this, go to Settings > Apps, tap on the app that is freezing or crashing and then click on Clear Cache and Clear Data.

Method 2:

Restart your device to free up the memory.

Method 3:

Go to Google Play Store and make sure the app is up to date.

Method 4:

Go to Settings > Apps, tap on the app that is freezing or crashing and then tap Uninstall. Then go to Google Play Store download and install the app again.

Method 5:

A fresh start! Backup your data and perform factory data reset. Your device will work perfectly!
