iOS 8.3 Blocks File Manager Desktop Apps for iOS Device

iOS 8.3 update has been available since a couple days ago for iOS devices: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch. iOS 8.3 brought some bug fixes and enhancements on iOS, one of it is redesigned emoji keyboard. You can read change log release note iOS 8.3 before you update through iOS software update or iTunes. But, there is one thing which tahthas not been informed by Apple about iOS 8.3 update i.e you cannot use file manager for iOS device on your Mac/PC. Of course, it makes users surprised, because many of them have bought that file manager application.

They bought and used alternative file manager for iOS device beside iTunes, because there’re several things that couldn’t be done by iTunes application on Mac/PC such as transfer a photo that you sync from computer or take music from iPhone to Mac/PC. One of famous file manager desktop, iFunbox said in their Facebook account: “iOS 8.3 ruined our freedom of controlling data in our installed Apps and Games.” “Apple blocked access of the entire sandbox directory of every installed App since iOS 8.3. Previously, only writing was blocked in executable directory. Now, we totally lost the control of Apps on our own directory of any App if the device is not jailbroken.”

The developer iExplorer file manager application also said: “We are currently investigating how the iOS 8.3 update blocked access to the Apps directory, and we are looking into ways around it. All iDevice transfer utilities seem to be experiencing this exact same blocked access in iOS 8.3, so it’s not just a bug with iExplorer or iBrowse. Apple has definitely changed something with the way Apps can be accessed in iOS.”

We did not know for sure why Apple in iOS 8.3 blocks file manager desktop Apps related to the new security gap or UELA from Apple that must be obeyed by third party. Of course, developers are in the process of updating their applications and can run normal on iOS 8.3. Meanwhile, Apple is doing iOS 8.4 as well and we hope that this incoming update will give a second chance for third party file manager applications to be functioning back.
