Kuo: Redesigned MacBook Pro Models to Offer Flat-Edged Design, MagSafe, More Ports and No Touch Bar

Tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is someone who, for several years, has maintained his reputation as being a man who has his ways of tracking all the important developments taking place at Apple. If you have been planning on buying a new MacBook Pro, you might want to wait for a little. According to Kuo, Apple is working towards developing two brand new MacBook Pro models that will prove to be a big improvement on the last released models.

The new MacBook Pro models, as stated by Mac, will boast of some major design changes that will help in augmenting their visual appeal significantly. Out of the two models, one will feature a 14-inch display screen and the other will have a 16-inch size screen. The new models will have a flat-edged design which, as per Kuo’s claims, will be quite similar to the iPhone 12. It is touted to be the most prominent design update made to the Macbook Pro in the last several years.

If you are a fan of the OLED Touch Bar, you might be a little disappointed to know that it wouldn’t be a part of the new models. Instead of the touch bar, the redesigned models will feature physical function keys. The innovative MagSafe technology will be a part of the new models too. MagSafe is a charging connector design that uses a ring of magnets in certain Apple devices, like the iPhone 12, to get the devices connected to other remote devices or accessories that are integrated with magnetic components. To put it simply, a MagSafe charger gets attached to an iPhone similar to how a magnetic sticker gets attached to a refrigerator.

The new models will also feature additional ports which would also eliminate the need to invest in dongles as add-ons for the ports provided. Since the year 2016, the MacBook Pro models launched by Apple featured only USB-C ports. Therefore, this is very good news for those who prefer connecting multiple devices to their MacBook pro while working on it. Apple silicon chips – and not Intel chips – will be integrated into the new models.

The latest model of the 16-inch MacBook Pro features a heat pipe design. The same design will be featured in the refreshed models. Kuo states that the new models are better than the latest 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models because it supports higher computing power.

The new models are expected to hit the market in the third quarter of this year. Since there is a high replacement demand for the device at the moment, Kuo predicts that the shipments for MacBook will grow by 25-30 percent this year.

Apart from these details on the redesigned MacBook Pro models, Kuo had some more interesting news to share about Apple. He stated that the premium iPhone models that will be launched in the year 2022 will feature a unique vapor chamber thermal system which is being tested at the moment. This thermal system would be essential for the upcoming iPhone models as these machines will have upgraded connection speeds and better computing power.

Companies like Samsung, LG, and Razer have already implemented this technology in some of their phones and it was a matter of time before Apple embraced it too. The vapor chamber cooling technology prevents the chances of a phone and other electronic devices from getting overheated when used heavily. Apple’s requirements are quite different from that of other smartphone manufacturing companies. Therefore, it would be interesting to see whether this relatively new technology will be able to cater to its demands.
