Samsung Suspends the Rollout of the One UI 3.1 Update to the Galaxy S20

Recently, Samsung started the process of releasing the One UI 3.1 update to its older models along with the shipment of its Galaxy S21 series. The Galaxy S20 FE was one of the smartphones that received the update recently. Everything was going fine and the users who had not received the update on their phones yet were positive about the fact that it would come through soon. But now, it has been learned that Samsung has decided to stop the rollout of the update on a temporary basis.

While Samsung has not put up any official statement regarding the suspension of the rollout, a report published by the portal SamMobile states that the update is no longer available or accessible through the Smart Switch or OTA. There are different kinds of speculations floating around about the temporary suspension of this update rollout.

One of the rumors doing the rounds suggest that the rollout has stopped because several bugs were reported in the new update. Then, there are some users who have pointed towards issues in the battery and the overall performance of the device after the update. As of now, Samsung has not addressed these issues or offered any reason as to why they have halted the rollout.

The hope is that once the company manages to resolve these issues, the update would start rolling out again. Therefore, if you have a Galaxy S20 FE and have not received the update yet, you should wait for some more time. Apart from being patient, there is no other option at the moment.

This new update enables Google Discover to feature prominently on the home screen. It also gives users the option of not including information related to their information while sharing photos. The device controls of Google Home can now be found in quick settings, thanks to the One UI 3.1 update. Once this update has been run through in your device, you can add video call effects and other features to third-party apps. It also includes a security patch dated February 2021.

The Galaxy S20 FE was introduced in the market last year with Android 10. In the month of December, it received the One UI 3.0 update which is synonymous with Android 11 devices. It is also one of the very few devices by Samsung that will receive security upgrades and OS upgrades for as long as three years.
