The iPhone 12 models by Apple, which were launched last year, came armed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 modem. This year, there has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming iPhone 13 series and all that it could offer. While there has been a lot of speculation in the media, the company has not offered any clarification on any of the rumored reports. Now, another report has emerged which states that the iPhone 13 models will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem.
A while back, Qualcomm has served an official announcement about the launch of the Snapdragon X65 5G modem. However, there is a very high chance of Apple not using the latest modem so that it can control its costs. The Snapdragon X60 5G modem, which it has reportedly decided to opt for, has been made with the help of Samsung’s 5nm mode and delivers better battery performance.
With the help of this modem, it would be possible for the iPhone 13 phones to source out 5G data from sub-GHz and mmWave bands at the same time. With this, the phones will manage to have a combination of low-latency network coverage and high wireless data speeds.
Earlier, it was reported that the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. It has also been brought to light that Apple will use LTPO panels manufactured by Samsung which have the capacity to transverse between different refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The switch in the refresh rate will largely depend on the kind of content that is being showcased on the screen. This will help significantly in saving up battery life.
It has also been heard that the upcoming iPhone 13 models will have ultra-wide-angle lenses that would be beneficial for those who like to indulge in low-light photography. There are also rumors about the company incorporating components like mobile image stabilization sensors and LiDAR scanners in many more models and devices.
Last month, there was news about the iPhone 13 Pro models featuring a 1TB storage option. As of now, there is no clarity on whether the base model will feature increased storage capacity. The base model currently offers a storage capacity of 128GB.
There have also been unsubstantiated news about the upcoming series of iPhones featuring a smaller-sized notch above the display screen. Apart from that, there are also rumors about the iPhone 13 models featuring an in-display reader.
